1997 GEORGIA BINGO ANNUAL REPORT

During calendar year 1997, 270 nonprofit organizations were licensed to conduct bingo games in Georgia with approximately 12,160 approved bingo workers/officers.

Gross receipts for all licensees totaled $31,934,314 in 1997, which was a 6% decrease over 1996 receipts of $33,956,871. The highest gross receipts by any single license holder totaled $284,079 in 1997, which was a 5.6% increase over 1996 receipts of $268,925. The average gross receipts were $119,158.

Prizes awarded to players totaled $20,463,258 or 64.1% of gross receipts as compared to $21,561,994 or 63.5% in 1996.

Charitable donations reported by all licensees amounted to $999,400 or 3.1% of gross receipts in 1997 as compared to $1,099,597 or 3.2% in 1996.

Expenses reported by licensees to run bingo games totaled $6,952,261 in 1997 or 21.8% of receipts.

Net proceeds reported by licensees after payout of prizes, game expenses and reported donations, totaled $3,519,395 in 1997 or 11% of gross bingo receipts.
