Andersonville Historic Fair October 3rd, 1998.Over 175 Vendors plus the annual re-enactment. Please note that not only is Andersonville Cemetery one of the most moving experiences one can have the little town of Andersonville is a wonderfull trip by itself. It has a visitor center/museum. Century old Town Hall and Post office from 1860. A country store over 100 years old. An antique shop that is also pre-Civil War. The Wirz Monument, General Winder's Headquarters, and many other buildings of interest including an 1800's town in a beautiful wooded setting. There are two restaurants as well as shops. The Andersonville Historic Guild was formed in 1973 with the objective of restoring the town to a Civil War Villege. To replace buildings that have been either razed or burned down in past years or to save nearby buildings from oblivion, structures have been moved into Andersonville and restored. The Depot/Welcome Station, log church, country store as well as the farm buildings in the park area. The careful restoration of these buildings represnets the guild's efforts to turn back the clock. Andersonville Pioneer Farm...This 7 acre farm, complete with log cabin, log barns, waterpowered grist mill, mule-powered sugar cane mill, blacksmith shoop with blacksmith on duty most weekends, depicts what life was like on a one man farm of the mid 1800's.
